About Me

I’ve always had an affinity for music, starting from my childhood piano lessons, continuing alongside my co-founding of a Rap Club in high school, and lasting through the completion of my music degree from Columbia University in the spring of 2020. My love and appreciation for musical expression has only deepened and evolved over the years, nurturing a curious ear to all musical genres and styles.

At the same time, I had always loved video games, not only for their entertaining gameplay but particularly for the thematic connections between the narrative and the music. The music in my favorite games not only fit perfectly, but could clue me in to the relationships between characters or themes by repeating melodies, instruments, or other patterns at certain points. Picking up on those cues exposed me to the narrative potential that music can have, which only furthered my interest.

When I got to college, I pivoted from music production and beat-making towards composition for video games and other visual media, and so I learned as much as I could about composing from what Columbia had to offer.

My college education continued with full force as I learned advanced music theory, ear training, orchestration, and more. I also forged my own curriculum specifically for media composition (with the help of some incredible faculty). This experience cultivated my interest in classical and orchestral music, which flourished as I finished my degree.

Nowadays, my music taste ranges widely: from digital to acoustic, solo to orchestral, retaining influences of hip hop, incorporating jazz and classical sounds, and keeping an ear out for everything in between (and beyond).

My love for the visual media I consumed was always holistic; part of why I loved the music was because it fit so perfectly with the characters and the story happening on-screen. As such, I am always considering the full project for which I am composing, and I make my biggest musical decisions with that in mind.

At the end of the day, my goal in this field is to impact the people enjoying the media with my music in the same way the music in the media I enjoyed impacted me. Just as my appreciation was turned into love, I hope to do the same for others.
